So I went to Centennial Parklands, Sydney for the event called the Light Garden. The idea was - at least according their event website, 'As the sun sets over Sydney, wander through the spectacular illuminated Paperbark Grove and into the magic of the Light Garden'.

When I actually visited the event on Friday night, I have to say that everything I expected from the event wasn't good enough. Out of all the small hiccups of the night, the top rank goes to the light decoration itself. It was no where near to be called spectacular. Even though this judgment could be strongly regarded as subjective to the individuals. Maybe I should not expect too much from the free event, still though they really neeed to work harder to impress some of the visitors (like me).

Ironically, the disapointment I had with the artificial lights in the park really made me to discover how beautiful the moon light was. So, I decided to try bit of night landscape photography. The tripod I bought in 2009 as a part of package deal on SLR I purchased finally proved its own usefulness.

The above image was something I totally didn't expect to see. When I was shooting the image, I was only concered with the composition of the scene - where to position the moon and the POV of the camera with tripod and so on. And totally didn't realise what other light sources existed at the location until I loaded the raw image in Aperture and found the subtle but various colours appearing in the image.

Then I told myself that I just tasted the tiny portion of the entrée size of night photography meal. It was pretty magical to see how all the hidden lights were captured and finally I could appreciated the effort of Centennial Parklands putting various colour lights for the Light Garden event.

And maybe I have been too harsh to the Light Garden event. If you were looking for a relaxing night picnic with your family or close friends and don't mind big crowd, this is actually pretty cool event to visit. The not-so-impressive light decoration wouldn't be your concern and also the atmosphere at night in the park is something you could enojy with the right companions.

Anyhow, the next (and the final) image of the night reminds me of the scene from The Blair Witch Project or Twin Peaks. Some might even say, Twilight ...
