I made a short trip to Australia's capital, Canberra on Australia Day, 2014. This peacefully quiet and terribly organised capital of the country has the reputation of being ... hmm ... monotonous, repetitive, uneventful ... or just deadly boring :)

However, it would be discriminately unfair to paint only the colour of boredom on Canberra because I did have some fun there, too.
Parliament House
This is the Parliament of Australia, where all the important national matters are discussed. It's the one notable architect indeed, no doubt, full stop.
Australia Day Celebration
Before the Australia day fireworks, the helicopter pilot was showing off the flight skill over the river.
Tunnel
The short walk through the tunnel to prepare for the picnic of the day. The excitement is building up.
Australia Day Fireworks
Celebrating the Australia Day. The lovely fireworks that were worth for waiting and also the bottle of wine definitely helped us to get through.

By the way, the one cool thing I found in Canberra was how lenient the parking rules there - at least on Australia Day. I saw people parking their cars everywhere on the grass between the river bank and the parliament area, and the police seem totally fine with it. Just a little bit of controlled chaos and it does work great as long as the numbers are small enough. Love the little city especially coming from Sydney.
Elvis Never Dies
If you still love the King, there is an excellent exhibition in National Portrait Gallery right now, 'Elvis at 21'. Although I didn't find it much interesting as I'm not a big fan of celebrity portraiture, I ended up meeting one Elvis there. The king never dies. Or perhaps the people never stop loving the king.
Pond
On the last day in Canberra, I visited Canberra Museum and Gallery (CMAG) where is having the exhibition, 'Lens Love: the tender gaze of six Canberra region photographers' where I found the photographer, Lee Grant. She was my favourite among the six amazingly talented.

Belco Pride, her project of the suburb, Belconen, Canberra - the exceptional suburbia photography that I really loved. Highly recommended for anyone interested in.

Thanks for visiting.
